1-The department provides training courses in cooperation with the National Air Force for policemen and other individuals. The first course started on 1416 H (1996 AD) in meteorology and weather forecasting.

2-The department participates in national and international scientific conferences related to climate changes and environmental problems, e.g. desertification.

3-The department provides weather information and weather maps on big screens for the current and 24 hour weather forecast in the Kingdom to students and visitors.

 4-The department has strong links with the General Headquarters for Meteorology, where students go for summer training.

 5-The department provides information, data and scientific consultations for a number of departments in other faculties of the university and other institutions.

 6-The department performs research on the weather and climate conditions of Jeddah, and Mina valley which are used by various agencies.

 7-The General Headquarters for Meteorology used the mobile meteorology station to study the upper atmosphere during the first gulf war 1990.

 8-The department and the Headquarter for Meteorology and Environment participated in the cloud seeding experiments in cooperation with the International Organization for Meteorology in Asser area.
